    Steve's 11 pt.

Finally! After 12 years of bow hunting hunting I finally got one! Opening day 9:30 am. He was about 17 yds. away broadside. When the arrow hit him, there was a loud "crack" as if someone snap a tree in half. Since the arrow did not pass all the way through, I thought I had hit him in the shoulder. After waiting what seemed to be hours, Doc and I started tracking. After 200 yds., we found the arrow, and ended up spooking him. Doc decided we should call it quits and give him more time. We went back to camp and Doc gave deer search a call to get their opinion. They decided that they would come out and help us track. It was now 11:30 am and Deer Search would not be there until 4:00. This had to be the longest 4 and a half hours of my life. All I could do was wonder if we were going to find him. Deer Search had finally arrived and we started tracking from the place where I had shot him. After 2 and a half hours I hear "we got it" from one of the guys from Deer Search. Doc and I look at each other and say "you got what, more blood?" The guy says "no, we got the deer!" Doc and I start jumping up and down and high five eachother. I ran over to where they were, and there it was, my first deer ever. A massive 11 pt. buck. His green score is 137, so he is sure to make P&Y and NYBB. I want to thank Spike (that dog sure can track!), Deer Search, and most of all Doc, gave up his opening day to make sure we found that deer. Thanks Doc.
